About the Event

What is the OGP Africa and Middle East Regional Meeting?

The event will bring together open government champions from the region to raise collective ambition, energize the community, and generate political support to make governments more transparent, accountable and responsive to citizens. The agenda will feature high level plenaries, working level workshops, networking opportunities, and more.

Which policy areas will the event focus on?

Participants will share experiences, best practices and lessons on advancing critical public service policy areas including anti-corruption, digital innovation, access to justice, and civic participation.

What are the dates of the event and where will it take place?

2022 OGP Africa and the Middle East Regional Meeting will take place from November 1-3, 2022. Additional partner events may be held before and after the event dates. It will take place in Marrakech, Morocco at the Palm Plaza Hôtel & Spa – Marrakech, located at Avenue Du 7éme Art, Agdal, 40000 Marrakech, Morocco.

Registration/Travel

How do I register for the event? Is there a registration deadline?

Registration is now available here. Please register by September 30, 2022

Is there a fee to participate? Is travel support available?

Participation is free of charge. A limited amount of travel scholarships are available to support the participation of speakers, primarily civil society, at the meeting. Please indicate whether you require a travel scholarship to be able to attend.

Can I still register to attend the event even if my country of origin is not an OGP member country?

Yes, non-OGP countries are allowed to register to attend the meeting.

I registered and requested a visa letter. When will I receive my invitation letter?

Invitation letters to support visa applications will be issued beginning in August, 2022.

The regional meeting venue is the  Palm Plaza Hôtel & Spa – Marrakech, located at Avenue Du 7éme Art, Agdal, 40000 Marrakech, Morocco. There are a number of hotels nearby or within short driving distance, including those listed below. Please contact them directly to book accommodations:

Agenda/Call for Proposals

Where can I find the agenda for the Regional Meeting?

A sample of the agenda is available on the Program page. Following the call for proposals, the detailed program will be released in September 2022. 

How can I contribute to the agenda?

Members of the OGP community are invited to submit their ideas for sessions until July 29, 2022. Please review the Call for Proposals Guide carefully before beginning your session proposal application.

Will I be informed if my proposal has been selected for the agenda?

Yes, if your proposal is selected, you will be contacted by the organizers in early September via email. Please note that we expect the selection process to be very competitive. We will only contact session organizers that have been selected. The selected proposals will be announced publicly on our website in early September.

Do I need to register for the Regional Meeting if I completed a submission for the Call for Proposals or if I am invited as a speaker or session organizer?

Yes, you will still need to register for the event.

Will the sessions be livestreamed?

This event is primarily in person but select sessions will be livestreamed. 

Will translation services be available during the event?

Live interpretation will be provided in English, French and Arabic, during the opening ceremony, closing ceremony, and select sessions.
